So, Hi my name is Dora. I'm in the Faculty of Science, for Nutrition
Major.

Slide - Finding UPEI - 00:11
The first time I just 'googled' online and I just found that there is a
really strong background on the veterinary school, and I connected to
someone—a society, an international society; a lot of the Chinese
students, they can have a chat with the...they started at UPEI there—so I
just joined the society and asking them how they experience learning at
UPEI, so they all said "Oh UPEI is a really"—they all said it was a small
group, but—"...they really provided the fully services to the student, so
it is a good place to go"

Slide - Choosing UPEI - 01:01
Yeah, I feel my studying in UPEI is really, like, fitting to me, because
most of the courses I'm taking is a small size class, so the professor can
provide more specific care to your academic rating, and give you more
recommendations, 'what you should do' and give you the direction of what do
they want, what is their expecting—the goals. So, I feel I- like I did
the right choices for UPEI.

Slide - Life as an international student - 01:43
As an international student I feel like I'm getting fully cared by school,
by the society; because in the part of the housing one, we get everything
covered for when we go to clinical- go to see a doctor or getting some
medication, so [unintelligible] we have a society for international-
...they will hold us some events such as the global village, to group all
of these international students together, performing some- the singing or
playing music, to be together, so we can get touch to a lot of the friends
and international students as well. So, also, the like-International Office
provides us the specific services, such as the looking for the carrier, or
looking for the rental—the residence—for you or a lot services for
international students, so, yeah, I feel really grateful and be
really-...Thank you for that, yeah.

Slide - On Campus Events - 03:00
UPEI have a lot of the events every month, just so happened in this months-
November; we have a housing-nutrition week, so we will provide it—for me,
because I'm from nutrition major, so we will provide some posters to the
public, to like hang out on every building to say some some of the
nutrition facts, to people. So UPEI also holding activities, such as- like,
a Halloween parties, or the global village parties, to group all the
students together, to have fun.

Slide - Global Village - 03:43
In the global village, we can meet a lot of the students from the different
place, and we can communicated in English, to share our cultures, to share
our- the ethic, to each other, and also making friends—yeah. It's a great
opportunity to know someone else in the world, their- what they're doing
and their- yeah, what are they thinking.

Slide - Discovering Prince Edward Island - 04:19
Greenwich and Anne of Green Gables, and like East Point, West Point—like,
everywhere, they have really- amazing sense in the West Point, and they
have- like amazing- the view in Victoria Park, so yeah, just a—especially
in the summer—so everyone just enjoy the- the beach; enjoy the ocean,
enjoy the lobster, and the drink, so yeah, PEI is really lovely, yeah. The
biggest difference is- like, the winter, so, the first that- I remember the
first year I came here for the winter- 'yeah, everywhere is like white, I'm
totally feel like I'm blind already' so, yeah and- but- anyway, I'm getting
used to do it—also the storm coming in the winter, but I'm feeling 'Okay
I really feel acceptable to the weather, yeah', I'm getting more used to
do- used to get along with the nature. But I wanna say PEI is really
lovely—Islanders, like, compared to the larger cities, if you are living
here, study here, you will be getting a really peaceful and less
distraction—of the learning—so, yeah...—Also that is my first drive
to be here because I'm thinking 'PEI is really the small island'- so I'm
thinking 'Oh, probably will be really the quiet, peaceful, and people will
be kind and the...will be less distraction to affect on my studies- on my
way to study, so yeah.

Slide - Following Traffic Rules - 06:20
I feel people in PEI, or say in Can- the Canadian—they really followed-
like, automatically follow the regulation—it seems like they have the
regulation in heart because there's—this just happened last
year—there's a storm day before, so everything is lighted on- like,
powered on. We have no power in the- like, continuously to two days,
so...the cross—is that a cross? or say the cross, the big cross- the
traffic light! Okay, yeah—the traffic light is- they have no power and
they are all down, but people in driving, say, will automatically recognize
the traffic light will be a stop sign so we are- we don't need to call any
police, to control the traffic level, so people will automatically- like,
really behave to the traffic regulations. I feel like I- when I see
that—I'm just a driver after storm day—when I see that, I feel really
shocked—it wouldn't be happening in my country, I feel like it's really-
like, a highly...(how do I say the word...?) highly cultured? Or- like-
highly civiliza-... Highly civilization culture, to be here—so yeah, from
that day I really learned a lot from the Islanders.

Slide - Being a Robertson Library Employee - 08:00
So the reason why I applied to library is because I think to be on campus
will be really convenient to me, 'cause I can study here, work in here, the
first, is everything I can- like, do in school, so—also library is the
place I always to go, in campus, so I wanted to get more familiar with the
school and more familiar with the library asset, so when I see the job
available, I just wanna reply the- apply it, to join the group, because
everyone—every librarian here are really kind to me, and I really learned
a lot of the things such as the- they were- like—showing their warm
hearted, to teaching me everything what I want to learn, so, they are not
really treating you as a labor force, actually, so because you're still a
student, beside you are working—you're doing the effort to the
library—they were showing their ethic to you, like, to the futures, so
they would also provide…helping you to grow up here, so I- I really
appreciated I can get the job and yeah, thank you for—all
librarians—for taking care of me.

Slide - Recommending UPEI to friends from China - 09:32
Like, the friends from my school, like- after, under me- two grade under
me, they already be here- like, yeah, from my description of the school,
they feel: "Oh, oh my god, yeah, I probably can take the decision to be
UPEI finally". So I would highly recommend the UPEI to others. So for now,
it's already- five of the students came here, to be, business student, IT
student and also in the science student.

Slide - Final Thoughts - 10:11
For this year because we are fifty years celebration, so we have a lot of
the events for like rock n' roll and the- like- the barbeque stuff, so I
remember the barbeque days, like, everyone would line up for—I don't
know—like, two buildings—they are separated in two buildings and
everyone is singing out for the Panther, so—everyone dancing, on the
campus, so I feel that is really fun and feel like everyone engaged in to
celebrating for the 50 years of the school.
